President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday, mourned the death of foremost writer, Prof. Chinua Achebe, saying the deceased’s rank, truthful and fearless interventions in national affairs would be greatly missed.
Jonathan made this known in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

The President said although some people may have disagreed with the deceased’s views, most Nigerians never doubted his immense patriotism and sincere commitment to the building of a greater, more united and prosperous nation that allAfricans and the entire black race could be proud of.

It would be recalled that the late Achebe declined national honours bestowed on him by the administrations of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Jonathan in protest of the stateof affairs in his home country.

The statement read, “President Goodluck Jonathan has received with immense sadness, news of the passing away of Nigeria’s globally acclaimed writer, scholar, tutor, cultural icon, nationalist and artist of the very first rank,
Prof. Chinua Achebe.

“The President joins Prof. Achebe’s family, friends, colleagues, past and present students, admirers and all who have learnt indelible lessons of human existence from his award-winning works of literature in mourning the legendary author.
“As he mourns, however, the President is consoled by the knowledge that Prof. Achebe will live forever in the hearts and minds of present and future generations through his great works which brought him enduring international fame and countless honours.”

He prayed that God will receive Achebe’s soul and grant him eternal rest.

Achebe is survived by his wife, Christie Chinwe Achebe, a professor of psychology, and four children – Chinelo (aprofessor), Ikechukwu (a researcher and academic), Chidi (a medical doctor based in Boston, Massachusetts), and Nwando (aprofessor of history at Michigan State University) – as well as several grandchildren.

It is illegal to be too loud in bed in Australia.

An Australian couple was sentenced to a fine after their wild lovemaking has been seen as disturbing their neighbors.

Jessica Angel and Colin Mackenzie are being fined $4,000 for breaking the 1993 Law of Environmental Protection, according to local newspaper reports.

Under the law in South Australia, the noise is classified as a form of pollution and that includes vibration. (na wa o)

Police have visited the apartment of the couple twenty times in the past.

MacKenzie, 45, accused his girlfriend for making the noise.

“Our average sex goes anywhere from four, six, seven hours, basically five nights a week,” he said.

“That’s more or less why I’m asleep at six o’clock. I’m probably going to die of a heart attack.

It almost killed me as it is.”
An emergency environment protection order was served on the pair, ordering them to cease all noise in 72 hours.

But the couple was reported to have ignored that order and the police were called again on Tuesday morning when they were arrested and charged.

The couple is reportedly the first in South Australia to be accused of violating environmental laws.

So, dear Reader, what's your take on this?

We have lost a brother

"For us, the loss of Chinua Achebe is, above all else, intensely personal.

We have lost a brother, a colleague, a trailblazer and a doughty fighter Of the "pioneer quartet" of contemporary Nigerian literature, two voices have been silenced – one, of the poet Christopher Okigbo, and now, the novelist Chinua Achebe.

It is perhaps difficult for outsidersof that intimate circle to appreciate this sense of depletion, but we take consolation in the young generation of writers to whom the baton has been passed, those who have already creatively ensured that there is no break in the continuum of the literary vocation.

"We need to stress this at a critical time of Nigerian history, where the forces of darkness appear to overshadow the illumination of existence that literature represents.

These are forces that arrogantly pride themselves implacable and brutal enemies of what Chinua and his pen represented, not merely for the African continent, but for humanity.

Indeed, we cannot help wondering if the recent insensate massacre of Chinua's people in Kano, only a few days ago, hastened the fatal undermining of that resilient will that had sustained him so many years after his crippling accident.

"No matter the reality, after the initial shock, and a sense of abandonment, we confidently assert thatChinua lives.

His works provide their enduring testimony to the domination of the human spirit overthe forces of repression, bigotry and retrogression."

This Particular september had another feeling to it... ☺

Could it be because of the fact that autumn this year came quite early and everywhere seems unusually dry and harsh at the same time. ☀ ☂

No... Its not the autumn, Its simply because I had checked the site of the school I'm prospectively a student and the results of the popular Post-JAMB hasn't been released...
And so I got this excitement running through my body knowing that there is another reason for my visiting the internet aside 'facebooking' ⇪

Alas! I was chosen to study Mass Communication in Olabisi Onabanjo University. ♠

So much happiness that I'll finally become a student,
So much pride that I've come a little bit more closer to my scholarly journey of being well educated, ♚

So much joy that I would become scarce within my vicinity and everyone would have to ask my mum
"iya sam, ibo ni samu lo ke" and my mum with a grin would reply them, "o ti lo si school". ♥

Fast forward that two weeks later and I've forgotten about all that euphoria, queueing up under the popular dreaded sun of the PS (permanent Site)

and...

Sweating profusely like its a ritual the 'gods' of PS hold on every fresher to take 'sample' of their 'sweats and blood'. ♨

Hmnn... I remembered the last day I went to the Admin's office and finalised my Verification process, It all felt like a new beginning and I could remember myself miming the famous R-Kelly's song, singing

ENJOY!
It is finally the time to meet the
parents after you guys have gotten
engaged and are sure you want to spend the rest of your life together as husband and wife.

You have picked a date to meet his/her parents but you are somewhat scared, unsure or not
exactly in the know of what to do or what not to do.

The number one step is to basically
relax. Remember these people are
human, they are as human as your own parents so there is really nothing to fear.

Just inhale and exhale, calm your
nerves and act very “You”. Get rid of jitters or fears or nerves. You don’t need those.

When you relax, you would realise that things would flow naturally between your would-be in laws and you.
This is very much important if you are a man. If you act uncomfortable or nervous in front of your woman’s parents, you are
likely to create a wrong perception.

They might think you are hiding
something or worse that you are not man enough because men are calm and boys are jumpy. Now, you don’t want them asking your fiancee when you’re gone if she’s sure you’re not of funny character, so while there, be what men
are usually are; relaxed, calm and in charge.

As a lady, when you are at your would be in laws’ place, act proper. Do not use that period to pick a see through dress or a sexy mini dress.

You don’t want your in laws to wonder if you are going to make a good wife and mother, you
want them to KNOW you will make a good wife and mother. Keep the make up minimal, you are not attending a red carpet event anyway and do not wear uncomfortable shoes or accessories.

During conversations with the in laws, do not talk too much. The trick here is, you would talk but you would not say so much you’d be considered a talkative or too little you’d be considered hostile.
As a man, charm your mother in law, engage your father in law in meaningful conversations

Throw in a few light jokes and don’t forget your “Please” and “Thank you”.

This will make them be relaxed around you and be able to take
their time to know you because guess what?

They are as nervous as you are.
They want to know if they can trust their little angel with you for the rest of her life.

As a woman, during conversations, be polite. Smile as much as you can so they can find you endearing. Win the mother’s heart and don’t hesitate to offer to join her in the kitchen even if she has thousands of maids already helping out there.

If you have gone over during lunch or dinner, offer to help set the table before the meal and clean
after the meal. Don’t take this to mean you are a maid, you are sending a message across to that woman; you can run your own household effortlessly well.

You need to let her see that and
trust that you can do it.
Do not act bored, either as a man or a woman. Don’t let them feel like you would rather not be there. When you marry their son or daughter you would have them as family for the rest of your life, so if you are bored now, what would you do for the rest of your life?
Be rid of them? Mothers like to discuss their sons, as a lady, indulge her.

Laugh at his(your fiance’s) childhood jokes and even urge
her to bring out his baby album. There’s nothing that can ensure a faster bond between a mother and daughter in law than discussing the man.

When you eventually leave, make sure you have created a nice and lasting impression. As a man, tell your would be father in law you can’t wait to see him again.

This would show him you are not
the type to cringe at the idea of being with adults.

He would trust you to protect his little angel.
As a lady, tell your mother-in-law you look forward to seeing her again.
A man in Zimbabwe was arrested after beating his wife and threatening to stab her because she refused to help him open a Facebook account.

The man, Benjamin Chanyau of 1242 Mkoba Village 18, appeared before Gweru magistrate Ms Sithandekile Ncube facing charges of domestic violence.

He was found guilty of
assaulting his wife, Ms Fadzai
Muchavhaira and fined US$200 or in default one month imprisonment.

The State’s case as presented by Mr Bonwell Balamanja is that on 21
February, the complainant, Ms
Muchavhaira was taught how to open and operate a Facebook account by her brother at the couple’s house in Mkoba Village 18 in the presence of the accused.

After the departure of Ms Muchavhaira’s brother, Chanyau asked his beloved wife to open her Facebook account and teach him how to operate the social network website.
Chanyau also demanded to see what his wife was posting on her Facebook account alleging that Facebook was bad for married couples.

The wife refused to comply leading to a misunderstanding between the two.

Chinyau got furious and kicked the
complainant in the stomach once with abooted foot.
He reportedly went on the
threaten to stab his wife with a knife is she failed to show him what was on her Facebook wall and teach him how to use Facebook.

The complainant reported the matter to the police leading to the wife-basher’s arrest.

So, dear Reader, what do you think of this... (A feeling of 'Violence with impunity' against women)

While it would sound no big deal that sleep troubles due to child's crying triggered an argument or a small fight between a couple.

But, it would certainly be little bizarre to find that a couple separated because of sleep problems.

A poll had been carried out recently, which uncovered that nightly bedtime battles sometimes have so heavy toll that transgressions are seen in couples.

It is being said that lack of sleep plays a major role in divorces and break-ups of
couples.

Almost a third of them face such
consequences.
The researchers have, therefore, raised warnings that sleepless nights sometimes realized due to crying babies might destroy people's marriage.

Health is also affected
to a large extent as an adverse
consequence of sleepless nights.
The poll found that an average person slept for five hours and 48 minutes a night.

Also, three in every 10 couples reported that sleep deprivation after they had a child also caused their break-up. Some 45% people
said that they had slept a place very inappropriate.

According to psychologist Tanya Byron, "Behavioural difficulties, family issues, learning and concentration issues: there are
a significant number of these common problems which have poor sleep at the heart of it".

Students off Olabisi Onabanjo University have shown their unrelenting zeal of making sure their request is being met my the school's administration.

Meanwhile, BBM, Facebook and other means of passing information through the social media have enjoyed various opinions of grieving but unwary students, of which the below write-up is most common.

It reads

"PROTEST DAY 2
Greatest OOUITES!!!
We are learned personnels
And cannot dogmatically accept this
Obnoxious policy of repeating class by the Vc when we are not in secondary school.

A very good number of students haven't paid the school fee for last session due to the in-availability of
the funds from home (Our Guardians and Parents) though some might have been given anyway but
diverted it into anything they please but has not brought it to the level of repeating class.

Do we know how much most of us pay in this state school that fees ought to be cheap because its a
government school let alone the fees Medicine and Law pay per session? Besides other departments?
The act is really uncalled for and we must keep wailing till the
students voices are heard, though with our peaceful protest.

(Stay outta crimes please and let's keep protesting peacefully)
until our voice is heard, and our struggle pays.

When You seem to have seen it all, bang! Another one comes slapping through your face. Here's the Story of Rajo Verma.

Rajo Verma, 21, lives in a one-room shack with all five, sleeping with a different one each night on a rota. The housewife has no idea which one is the
father of her toddler son.

She said:
“Initially it felt a bit awkward. But I don’t favour one over the other.”
Husband Guddu, 21 - the first to make her his bride insisted: “We all have sex with her but I’m not jealous.

We’re one big happy family.” Guddu and Rajo got married in an arranged Hindu marriage four years ago and he remains her only
official spouse.

Continue...

But the custom in their village is she had to take as husbands his brothers Bajju, 32, Sant Ram, 28, Gopal, 26, and Dinesh
- who married her last year when he turned 18.

Eldest brother Bajju said: “I consider her my wife and sleep with her like my brothers.” Rajo cooks, cleans and looks after 18-month-old Jay while her hubbies go out to work in Dehradun, northern India.
She said of the ancient tradition, called polyandry: “My mother was also married to three brothers so when I got wed I knew I had to accept all of them as my
husbands.

“I sleep with them in turn. We don’t have beds, just lots of blankets on the floor.

“I get a lot more attention and love than most wives.”

This Is a must watch video..

This shows how powerful the media can be (some class cues coming in here) that even apart from shirts being designed for this, a song has just been made in honour of the Man who made it normal for every one to start saying "OGA ON TOP!"

So I'm guessing you use google on a weekly basis (assignments *winks*)
or daily like my poor self here.

So, I wish you to give the honour of being your Teacher here :) and my first instruction as teachers would often say is to cast away any form of residual knowledge or prowess you think you posses on searching contents on google that give you the best results in the shortest of time spent.

So I'm gonna be using this :
"INTERNET MARKETING" as our search word. Let's go!

Exclude Words:
Lets say you want to search for content about internet marketing, but you want to exclude any results that contain the term advertising. To do this, simply use the "-" sign in front of the word you
want to exclude.

Example : Search: internet marketing - advertising

 Site Specific Search :
Often, you want to search a specific website for content that matches a certain phrase. Even if the site doesn’t support a built-in search feature, you can use Google to search the site for
your term.

Simply use the "site:somesite.com" modifier.

Example: "internet marketing"
site:www.smallbusinesshub.com

Download :
There is so many fileserver just include them in your search

For example : Site:mediafire.com books name

Similar Words and Synonyms: Let’s say you are want to include a word
in your search, but want to include
results that contain similar words or synonyms. To do this, use the "~" in front of the word.

Example: "internet marketing"
~professional

Specific Document Types:
If you’re looking to find results that are of a specific type, you can use the modifier "filetype:". For example, you might want to find only PowerPoint presentations related to internet marketing.

Example: "internet marketing"
filetype:ppt

This OR That:
By default, when you do a search,
Google will include all the terms
specified in the search. If you are
looking for any one of one or more
terms to match, then you can use the OR operator.

(Note: The OR has to be
capitalized).

Example: internet marketing OR advertising

Phone Listing:
Let’s say someone calls you on your
mobile number and you don’t know how it is. If all you have is a phone number, you can look it up on Google using the
phonebook feature.

Example: phonebook:617-555-1212

(note: the provided number does not work – you’ll have to use a real number to get any results).

Area Code Lookup:
If all you need to do is to look-up the area code for a phone number, just enter the 3-digit area code and Google will tell you where it’s from.

Example: 617

Numeric Ranges: This is a rarely used, but highly useful tip.
Let’s say you want to find results
that contain any of a range of numbers.
You can do this by using the X..Y
modifier (in case this is hard to read, what’s between the X and Y are two periods.
This type of search is useful
for years (as shown below), prices or anywhere where you want to provide a series of numbers.

Example: president 1940..1950

Calculator:
The next time you need to do a quick calculation, instead of bringing up the Calculator applet, you can just type your expression in to Google.

Example: 48512 * 1.02

Word Definitions:
If you need to quickly look up the
definition of a word or phrase, simply use the "define:" command.

Example: define:plethora

Music files:
Ever wondered how to hack Google for free music or ebooks. Well here is a way to do that. To download free music just enter the following query
Example: “?intitle:index.of?mp3 eminem“

You all remember overdose?

The Student of Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye are currently undergoing a peaceful Protest in form of Marching all the way from their respective residences to the school gate in order to show collective disinterest and disapproval for the decision made by the Current Administration of Which Prof. Saburi Adesanya is Vice-Chancellor.

The decision made by the administration upholds that any session that hasn't not been paid for by any student and as such, the students progresses to another level of study (e.g 100L-200L) that session not been paid for will be repeated, meaning Until payment of the unpaid session is met, such student is just being ignorant if he/she still attends classes.

There have been recurrent meetings with the VC on this matter and many more and it all ends with the students' requests not being met and this has led to the ongoing protest... More pictures below.
