 Veteran Nigerian journalist, Alade Odunewu, dies at 85 - Veteran Nigerian journalist Alade Odunewu died in Lagos Thursday after a long illness. He was 85.

Popularly known by his pen name, Allah-De, the highly-respected journalist died at a hospital in Lagos and will be buried according to Islamic rites on Friday, the local media reported.

The late Odunwu is best remembered for his days in one of the country's oldest newspapers, Daily Times, which he joined in 1950 and where he later served as the Editor-in-Chief.

He also previously served as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Tribune, one of the oldest surviving newspapers in the country.

Alhaji Odunewu, a co-founder of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, authored the book 'Winners Take All', a collection of his writings in his popular Daily Times column, 'Allah-Dey'.
